A pre-connection attack refers to a type of cyberattack that occurs before a connection is established between two devices or systems. In other words, it is an attempt by an attacker to compromise a system or gain unauthorized access before any communication takes place.

Some examples of pre-connection attacks include:

Port Scanning: An attacker scans a target system's network ports to identify vulnerabilities that can be exploited to gain unauthorized access.

IP Spoofing: An attacker sends packets with a fake IP address to a target system to trick it into thinking the packets are coming from a trusted source.

DNS Spoofing: An attacker alters the Domain Name System (DNS) records of a target system to redirect traffic to a malicious website.

Network Eavesdropping: An attacker intercepts network traffic to steal sensitive information such as passwords or credit card numbers.

Pre-connection attacks can be difficult to detect because they occur before a connection is established. However, there are security measures that can be taken to prevent such attacks, such as implementing firewalls and intrusion detection systems.
